Entertainment adds a dash of fun and excitement to proceedings. It’s usually saved for the reception and can involve, well, just about anything! Traditionally couples opt for music, DJs, bands and fireworks. Here are a few more weird and wonderful ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Magician
Dazzle and delight your guests by hiring a magician. This is a particularly great option if you’ve got children on your guest list. If a magician doesn’t leave you spellbound, consider some other similarly alternative performers such as palm readers, fortune tellers or mind readers.
Giant board games
If the outdoors is going to play an important role in your day, why not make the most of it and supply a few giant board games? Pick different types to cater to all ages and abilities such as snakes and ladders, checkers and chess.
Karaoke For a twist on the classic disco set-up, try karaoke. If you’ve got some gregarious guests who would be up for performing it could be great fun. Just imagine a tipsy relative serenading you with a slightly out of key rendition of ‘Achy Breaky Heart’. Exactly.
Comedian
If you fancy a different kind of laugh, hire a comedian for an hour or so. A good comedian will be able to get guests giggling and set the mood for the night ahead.
Food or drink station
Perhaps you’re both mad for mojitos or cuckoo for cupcakes? Maybe you’re hot for hot chocolate or serious about sweeties? Whatever your jam, why not give it its very own station? For example, a ‘pimp up you prosecco’ station could include a selection of fruit juices and chopped fruit along with herbs, ice and serving utensils.
Artist
We love the idea of hiring a caricature artist to capture your guests in hilarious cartoon form. This could also double as a fun favour idea. Silhouette artists are becoming increasingly popular if you’re after something a little different.
Selfie booth
Pick a corner, choose a backdrop, supply some props and let your guests get snapping! This is a great way to get lots of extra photos of your friends and family having fun at your wedding. Choose a unique hashtag and put a sign up requesting guests to use it. Then it will be easy to collate all the images after the party is over.
Flash mob
Love them or hate them, there is no denying a flash mob grabs your attention! From cabaret dancers to rap, there is a flash mob out there for everyone. And you can’t honestly say the scene at Juliet and Peter’s wedding in ‘Love Actually’ didn’t warm the cockles of your heart, can you?
