Winter weddings are hot because they’re so cool!
As the sun hangs low in the sky, winter is one of the most romantic times to be in Cornwall. Tucked away from the frost in Nook, Cranny, or any other of our luxury boutique accommodation at our intimate wedding venue, you could feel as though you were in another world!
In the winter, Cornwall reveals a special magic that is usually reserved for the lucky people who live here. Whether it’s witnessing the formidable winter storms from the goldfish bowl of bars on the beach, feeling the kiss of mizzle on your cheeks as you wind in and out of inlets, or snuggled up cosy, hidden in one of our private suites, it’s a romantic destination where you can hunker down together. This is why so many people are choosing the destination of Lower Barns to have a secret, hassle free elopement wedding in Cornwall.
Our wedding packages are all based on a 2 night stay to give you plenty of time to relax, unwind and snuggle up before getting all excited again as you get ready for your ceremony. We know our couples enjoy having some time afterwards too, to make the most of such a special time together. If you want to stay longer, it’s easy to add extra nights!
All of our rooms are beautifully different. Hugged by private courtyards, the luxurious hiding places of Nook and Cranny both pop with colour and character, blending eye-catching design with luxe, cosy comforts, such as a dive-into-me beds. Cranny boasts its own wood-burner, Nook has an outdoor sauna and both have their own hot tubs! The Hideaway is dog-friendly and offers rustic lux, colour and romance in abundance, set within its own Cornish oasis with enchanted garden and own roll-top gypsy caravan. The Hayloft has disabled access, is dog-friendly and has a shower and an adjoining upstairs room if you are bringing your young ones to celebrate with you. The Lawnside Suite and Garden Suite are in the main house and have their own conservatories to enjoy the winter light. These gorgeous spots beg you to relax, unwind and indulge on your wedding day and honeymoon too. The Shack is perfect for winter ceremonies with its warming fire and twinkly lights. Some couples choose The Wed Shed on crispy winter days with blue skies when it’s great to be outside in the winter sun.
Our gardens are beautiful all year round, giving your wedding photos backdrops of autumn leaves, snow drops or the daffodils we often have before Christmas, as well as our graffiti wall giving a blast of colour against a dramatic winter sky. After the ceremony cosy up with a cream tea or canapés and cake, either in the warmth of your suite or The Party Shed.
Mike is our ‘in house’ photographer. You’ll see loads of his work on the website and social media. He will be happy to take you to the beach after your wedding, to get winter colours and waves in your album too. As host at Lower Barns, he gets to know you before your wedding day to make sure the ‘real you’ shines through.
