Seasoned with sunshine, sand and saffron, Cornwall has long since been a destination assimilated with romance and elopement weddings. Where else can you get wed in a shed in a secluded garden, surrounded by Cornwall’s dramatic coast line, with crashing waves and secret beaches? Winding through hidden pathways, waterways and caves, Cornwall is home to many unique secrets, like Lower Barns weeding venue.

It didn’t take long to put together why Ricky and Lyndsey wanted to elope to Cornwall. What they cared about was so crystal clear; to be together with their nearest and dearest while they tied the knot with a Humanist ceremony within the Lower Barns garden. They found us on the internet, called me and booked without wanting to come and see us. Lyndsey said “you sound lovely” in her wonderful Irish accent. I knew then that we where going to have a rocking wedding with these guys.

Everyone joined together in the Lounge for a hearty full English breakfast to start the day. The importance of keeping everyone fed and watered is always at the front of our minds, particularly on a day so loaded with excitement and lots of time spent outdoors in the sun.

The excitement and atmosphere built as we decorated the garden, Annas Flower Barn arrived with the flowers to assemble, and the cake was delivered. There were plenty of ‘oh’s and ‘ah’s from guests relaxing in the morning sun; because we are a small and intimate venue, they were able to sit, relax and ‘people watch’ while it all unfolded around them.

The sun shone brightly for the afternoon ceremony. Lyndsey looked stunning, (and slightly nervous not!) as she came out of Cranny, with here 4 stunning bridesmaids. In to the main garden and down the aisle to The Wed Shed, where Ricky was waiting, with his best man beside him. If there were any nerves, as soon as Lyndsey saw Ricky they had disappeared and only love, smiles and the warmth of their families and friends surrounding them.

Great times and great memories. Feeling lucky, happy and grateful to have shared their day with them.
